Vantage
Vantage is designed to incentivise a deeper engagement with the historical Alamo site by encouraging visitors to stay for longer periods and to view the Alamo from more perspectives than straight on.
Vantage makes use of a sunken plaza, paying homage to San Antonio's famous River Walk, and encouraging visitors to sit and engage with the site. It includes multiple framed views where viewers can take photographs of the historic Alamo facade.
The proposed building is a museum and exhibition space that makes use of glass walls to keep visitors in constant visual contact with the context as well as the objects within. Designated viewing areas tell the story of the entire mission, beyond the iconic Alamo facade.
